Help
Something not working? Here are quick answers.
Connect your computer (Windows, Mac or Linux)+
- Install the Unifiles app on the computer and open it.
- Tap Dashboard, sign in, then Add storage → A computer → Connect this computer. (Or, in a browser, Add storage → A computer, and type the code into the app's Connect screen.)
- In the app, open Connect and add the drives or folders Unifiles may use.
- Mac: the first time, right-click the app and choose Open. Linux: the Dashboard opens in your browser.
Connect your Android phone+
- Install the Unifiles app and open it.
- On your computer, open Add storage → A phone. In the app tap Connect → Scan QR code and point the camera at the code.
- Allow “All files access” when asked, and choose the folders to share.
- So it keeps working in your pocket: Settings → Apps → Unifiles → Battery → Unrestricted.
Connect Google Drive+
Add storage → A cloud → Google Drive, and allow access when Google asks. If Unifiles says it has limited access, connect it again and tick every box Google shows.
Copy or move files between your storage+
- Open any storage and tick the files you want (or use a file's ⋮ menu).
- Choose Send to, pick the computer, phone or cloud, and the folder. You can make a new folder right there.
- Pick Copy to keep the original, or Move to remove it afterwards. Progress shows under Transfers.
- On a computer you can also drag files onto a folder (moves them there) or onto a storage in the side menu (opens Send to).
My computer or phone shows Offline+
- Check it's switched on and has internet.
- Windows: Unifiles starts by itself at sign-in; look for its icon next to the clock. If it's paused, right-click it → Resume sharing.
- Mac: Unifiles starts at sign-in and keeps running after you close its window; click its icon in the Dock to check it.
- Linux: Unifiles starts at sign-in; open it from your apps to see if it's connected.
- Android: open the app once, and set Battery to Unrestricted (above).
- The Connection check tells you exactly what's wrong.
A folder or drive is missing or empty+
- Only folders you added in the app are visible. Open the app → Connect → Add folder.
- External drives show “Not plugged in” while unplugged; plug it back in and it reappears.
- Opening a folder asks the device for its latest contents; big drives take a few minutes the first time.
I deleted something by mistake+
Press Undo in the message that appears (it stays for a few seconds). After that, it's in the Recycle Bin (Windows), the trash on your phone, or under Deleted files for Google Drive. Restore it from there.
Protect my account with two-step sign-in+
Settings → Two-step sign-in → Turn on, scan the code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password…) and type the 6 digits it shows. Save the recovery codes: each signs you in once if you lose your phone. Signed in with Google? Turn on 2-Step Verification in your Google account instead.
Use files when my computer is off+
Open a folder's ⋮ menu → Keep available when … is off. Unifiles keeps a copy in your own Google Drive while the computer is on, and uses it when the computer is off.
